Annebella Pollen, a professor of history of art and design at the University of Brighton, has published four books on the subject. In Nudism in a Cold Climate, Pollen tracks the development of the nudist movement in Britain from the 1920s to the 1970s, from the spartan beginnings of the ’20s to the countercultural 1960s and 70s, when the movement became frowned upon and criticized.
