Some interesting phenomena of the human body I wasn’t aware of

Today I would like to talk about the human reflexology. Inย biology, aย reflex, orย reflex action, is an involuntary, unplanned sequence or action[1]ย and nearly instantaneous movement in response to aย stimulus…. wait… what? why? Err… because I remembered a few days ago, I was on the bus but really really on the verge of bladder explosion. I held my pee and anxiously waiting for the bus to arrive at the street where I live on. After getting home and ready to release, I pinched the head of my penis just to aim my pistol at the target more accurately, I noticed my anus extracted because of the sharp pain. (I got a minor anal fissure. If you don’t know what that is, you can seeย my post on anal self examination) So later, I tried to pinch the gland again and I found my anal muscle extracting without me making it to do that. I found it interesting and I looked deeper. It turns out that there are many many reflex actions present on a human body. The field of investigating these is called reflexology. As always, I was trying to find something related to those “taboo” areas and hopefully people can embrace the human body while learning something. Many more reflexes… human bodies are amazing.

1. Cremasteric reflex

This reflex can be elicited by lightly stroking or poking the superior and medial (inner) part of the thighโ€”regardless of the direction of stroke. The normal response is an immediate contraction of the cremaster muscle that pulls up the testis towards the body.

2. Anal reflex

The anal wink, anal reflex, perineal reflex, or anocutaneous reflex is the reflexive contraction of the external anal sphincter upon stroking of the skin around the anus.

3. Bulbocavernosus reflex

The bulbocavernosus reflex (BCR), bulbospongiosus reflex (BSR) or “Osinski reflex” is a polysynaptic reflex that is useful in testing for spinal shock and gaining information about the state of spinal cord injuries (SCI). It is a contraction of the bulbocavernosus muscle (resulting in palpable rectal contraction) in response to squeezing the glans penis or clitoris (tugging on an indwelling Foley catheter), and is mediated through the pudendal nerve.

The bulbocavernosus reflex has been found to be delayed or absent at a higher rate than the general population in diabetic men with complaints of erectile impotence,[3] and men whose penises have been circumcised

4. Raphe

The perineal raphe is a visible line or ridge of tissue on the human body that extends from the anus through the perineum. It is found in both males and females, and arises from the fusion of the urogenital folds.

It has been argued that the “rib” in the biblical story of Adam and Eve is actually a mistranslation of a Biblical Hebrew euphemism for baculum (penis bone), and that its removal from Adam in the Book of Genesis is a creation narrative to explain its absence in humans, as well as the presence of the rapheโ€“ as a resultant ‘scarย
